Simplicity - A Hallmark of Jesus’ Life
'The wisdom of life consists in the elimination of non-essentials.' Lin Yutang.
We know that each breath,
each thought,
each step we take is blessed by Your love.
Help us to live in imitation of the
simplicity of Jesus’ life,
so that the real people we are,
are not hidden away within us,
buried under a life made too complicated.
Amen.
Welcome back to Term 4! I hope you all had a wonderful break and kept safe and sound. Yes I know, I said 'Term 4' - how quickly has the year gone by and we now find ourselves in the final term of the year. This is not only an exciting time as we come into the season of Advent, but also a time where we see all the hard work that the students and staff have being doing throughout the year.
'There is joy in simplicity so remember the small things. Remember the joy and happiness and all the hope it brings. Remember to love, remember to laugh, remember to be still. What ever you do, be yourself, be true.' Adam Smith.
I looked at this quote as we have many simple things in life that are rewarding, we don’t need to go looking for those extra - ordinary things, just the ones that we take for granted, that when you think about them really do make you appreciate the little things. These little things come in many ways from a simple vote of thanks or appreciation, to watch children engage and play with one another to the peaceful times on the beach or out in nature (I was in Rottnest over the holidays). Take that deep breath this term be thankful for what we have and appreciate those little things.
I look forward to seeing you during the term, take care and stay safe.
Best wishes
Mr Daine Burnett
Principal
Term Calendar
A reminder to keep an eye on the school website for other important dates during Term 4. These often need to be updated and finalised as the term progresses so please keep referring back to these.
Kindy Orientation
A reminder that we will have a parent only session on Monday 25th October at 6pm in the Upper Learning Area for those parents with children entering in Kindy in 2022.
Traffic Crossing
I am sure many of our families have seen that we have a new Traffic Warden who is now helping us cross Cape Street. We are very pleased to have Greg join us and I am sure you will all make sure he is felt right at home.
I would also like to remind all families to ensure that you continue to use the crossing and not take unnecessary risks when crossing Cape Street and to always use the designated areas.
Staff PD Day
On Monday 11th October staff engaged in a professional development day presented by Megan Mentz from “Little Green Steps”, an organisation who works together with an extensive range of educational resources, networks and local communities towards the common goal of giving children the confidence and skills to have a positive impact on their lives and their environment.
We investigated the Sustainable Schools Framework, learnt about the Noongar six seasons, and celebrated the many ways we embed sustainability across the school. Staff were given the opportunity to get hands on with activities centred around waste and water management, biodiversity awareness & citizen’s science.
Our aim at St Kieran is to continue developing our vision towards becoming a Sustainable School and continue working in partnership with students, families and the wider community to help care for our environment now and for future generations.

Containers for Change
St Kieran Catholic Primary School is proudly participating in the Containers for Change recycling initiative. Collect your eligible containers instead of tossing them in the waste, then drop them off at our school. Not only is it great for the environment, but it’s also a great way to support and maintain our sustainability program.
All money raised from this initiative will be used to continue to support our sustainable school practices.
