St Kieran Newsletter Term 2, Week 9 - 23 June 2022
Sacred Heart of Jesus
The 24th June is the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus
This weekend we celebrate the Sacred Heart of Jesus. In many churches and homes, one of the most popular images of Jesus is the image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This image is a reminder of the love Jesus has for all of us. The heart has always been seen as the “centre” or essence of a person. Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus is devotion to Jesus Christ Himself, but also a reminder to live our life through the two great Commandments:
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.
Love your neighbour as yourself.
Sacred Heart of Jesus Prayer
O Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place my trust in You.
Help us to nurture,
respect and be valued as children of your heart.
Help us reach our full potential,
and be recognised as individual using our God given gifts.
O Sacred Heart of Jesus pray for us.
Amen
I hope you are all managing to stay safe and well, please take care and have a great finish to the week

End of Term and Start of Term 3
Just a reminder that we conclude Term 2 on Friday 1st July and return to school for Term 3 on Tuesday 19th July for all classes.
Semester 1 Reports
This semester, mainstream school reports will look slightly different. We have included subject descriptors which state the content that has been taught in class in each of the learning areas. Teachers assess according to these descriptors and the assessment results are used to get the overall grade for that learning area. Individual subject comments will not appear on the report this year, but the general comment has been increased and will include statements about English and Mathematics.
We hope this adjustment provides parents with a lot more information about their children's progress and areas of focus moving forward.
Morgans Street Kiss and Drive
The morning and afternoon drive through can be a very busy place, which relies on all families doing the right thing to ensure it runs smoothly. In order to keep it flowing, we ask that parents stay in their car at these times, if you need to get out to assist your children then parking the car maybe a better option for you at this stage. Students are encouraged to independently get themselves out of and into the car, put their bags in and do up their own seatbelt.
Parking and Supervision at St Kieran
Please note parking in front of administration on Tyler Street is reserved for our Students with Additional Needs families - please refrain from parking here. All other families walking in to collect children are asked to park in the church car park. A reminder that before school, St Kieran Staff will only supervise the undercover area; and after school, staff will supervise the drive through and the undercover area.
Year 6 Winter Carnival
Last Thursday our Year 6 students competed against 7 other schools in Soccer, AFL, and Netball. All who attended represented the school in a positive way. There was both healthy competition and sportsmanship shown throughout all 3 sports as well as plenty of talent and determination. A special thanks to Ms Lanyi, Miss Drew, Mrs Evans and Mr Schwarze who all helped coach on the day.
